On Wednesday 21 February at 7pm, the Warehouse Theatre will host the Standup Comedy Night, featuring South African comedian Al Prodgers and Namibian Slick tha Dick, both professional veterans in the comedy circuit.
Al Prodgers visited the Warehouse Theatre in 2000 and again in 2006 to great success and has MC’d and performed at several local corporate events in Namibia since.
Al’s comic style is considered provocative and challenging, with his sharp wit in overdrive. Listen closely, or you’ll miss at least 2 of the funny bits in one sentence.
Not only has Al performed throughout South Africa, London, Toronto and Dubai but was also a finalist at the prestigious “Yuks Yuks Great Canadian Laugh Off” in 2007.
Al has furthermore also performed at the annual Smirnoff International Comedy Festival, the 2010 Vodacom Funny Festival in Cape Town and the Grahamstown Festival leading to a a solo show on Comedy Central on DSTV.
Slick tha Dick is one of the founders of the Namibian comedy group “FreeYourMind Entertainment” that hosts monthly standup comedy shows at the Warehouse Theatre and elsewhere in Namibia. Loved for his innocent yet expressive face and sharp tongue, Slick will touch on any and all topics that he encounters in everyday life. Nobody is off-bounds either.
Here’s a tip: it doesn’t help to take a seat in the back - he’s probably spotted you ages ago already.
Slick doesn’t perform a full set nearly often enough, mostly Mc’ing the FreeYourMind comedy shows, which is why the Warehouse Theatre hauled him from behind the scenes to do his thing, with Paulo Coelho as the MC for the evening.
Catch these two brilliant comedians on Wednesday 21 February at 7pm – one night only of 2 hours of laughter. Advance tickets are N$150 on www.eventstoday.com.na / Airtime City Kiosks / Warehouse Theatre.
